The Significance of Water on Wellbeing - Sara Rönne

During 2022 Helgabad will introduce a few KAFTAN(EN) users who are sharing their thoughts on water and wellbeing. I hope their thoughts will inspire you.

The fourth KAFTAN(EN) profile is Sara Rönne. Sara is a digital marketer with expertise in strategy, analysis, influencer marketing and copy. Sara keeps a blog where you can follow her adventures in the Swedish mountains and elsewhere. Sara lives in Åre, Sweden.

I have been a cold water bather for roughly five years and I love to introduce new people to the empowering experience of a cold bath. The experience I shared with an author even developed into a best selling book here in Sweden, called ‘Kallbaderskan bland fjällen’.

In the autumn of 2021 Sara was operated on in her legs. Unfortunately, she felt that the sensation of cold water was too much for her due to the operation. She decided to take a break from cold water bathing. In April 2022 she felt a strong urge to give the cold water a chance again. ‘Cold water bathing makes me feel alive, there is a certain tingling feeling under the skin that cannot be achieved in any other way, and it is that feeling my body longed for’.

Sara continues, water is always better than Netflix, whether it’s the sea, a river or a lake. I love my yearly fishing trips to Norway; I can be out at sea in a small boat for hours. And when my partner and I bought our house in Åre, in the north of Sweden, I dreamed of a location by the river, with a view towards the mountains. The universe got hold of my message and I now live in a small house with magnificent scenery.

I prefer to take my cold water dip In the morning, it helps me start the day fresh. I love to go down to the river early in the morning in October and November, it’s pure magic, whilst the world around me is getting dressed for winter, I am going swimming.

My favorite bathing spot is 500 meters from my house, with a beautiful view of the mountain Åreskutan.

It all started when my friend said to me “Sara, I don’t want to drink another cup of coffee, let’s go for a cold dip instead”. Since then, we have shared many cold baths together.

I love the added experience of nature so I prefer a cold bath to a cold shower. Having said that, a cold shower is sometimes necessary if I have had a rough night and want to feel refreshed fast without any hassle. It is the very definition of a good quick fix.

Thank you Sara for sharing your thoughts with us. It does sound like a magic way to start your morning, also thank you for inspiring us others to follow our dreams, living in the mountains does not sound like a bad idea.
